Shipping Specialist

SUMMARY

Processes all service customer orders via EDI or hard copy.

Prepares preproduction tags, ECI or SOP for new start-ups.

Prepares and generates kanbans, shipping labels, and packaging labels.

Communicates with customers/planners/production/supervisors daily.

Prepares shippers numbers and line-up sheets for all service customers as needed.

Processes shipments and sends ASN as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

The production planner position involves receiving, processing, and shipment of orders for all customers.

The first step in this process involves processing the orders via EDI or the hard copy mail received from the customer. This EDI process must be done daily.

The kanbans must then be produced and distributed to production. Then the shipping and packaging labels are produced and given to the service factory technicians.

Shipper ID numbers must be created and line-up sheets, then given to service factory technicians to package the orders.

When the order is prepared and ready for shipment, the shippers must be processed, created, printed, verified, sorted per the requirements which are specific to each customer.

Also, an ASN must be prepared, either electronically or fax, and sent to the customer.

In the case of customer Toyota Motor Sales, the shippers must be modified as in to remove any parts that will not be shipping (mis-ship). After the shippers are modified, they must be printed. At this point, if a shipper does not print, the planner must notify the service technicians that the skipper in question was not scanned properly. The service technician must correct the scan, notify the planner, and the planner can try to reprint the shipper. The shippers are verified, sorted and copies given to the driver and TG Accounting Department.

New shippers need to be created to reflect parts that mis-shipped.

Other responsibilities include preparing miscellaneous labels, i.e. mix load, home position, etc. Planner may order various supplies as needed, support kaizen activity, and other projects as assigned by management.

New part notices must be processed and set up in the system.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and one to three months related experience and/or training preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract three digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Planner/shipping specialist must have knowledge of the AS400, JDE, ability to work with Excel , Customer Systems and Outlook.

Good telephone and communication skills are necessary to interact effectively with customers.

Problem-solving skills are essential, as well as the ability to work with Production management.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

To properly complete necessary "hazardous documents" for shipments, this position requires the employee attend, complete and maintain continuing education for hazardous materials shipment.

The certificate must be kept current as required.
